This exam is primarily for graduate students whose degree requires proof of proficiency in a language other than English.
Exam sessions are given four times during the academic year on alternating Saturdays and Sundays. They are also given once during the summer. Dates, times, location and registration deadlines for upcoming tests are listed below.

All exams begin at 9:30 a.m. and will take place at 1 Spring Street, Language Lab, SPR-421.

In modern languages, one of two selections, either a passage in the Humanities or the Sciences, must be translated into idiomatically correct English.
All students will have one hour and 45 minutes to complete the exam, during which one dictionary (non electronic) may be used.
Exams may be taken in the following languages: Arabic, Catalan, Chinese, French, German, Greek, Hindi, Hebrew, Italian, Latin, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish - provided examiners are available. Please note that you CANNOT take the exam in your mother tongue!
Results may be obtained approximately two weeks after the exam date by calling either your department or the Graduate School.
The fee is $30.00 (non-refundable). A valid ID is necessary for admittance.
