Oral Proficiency Practice (OPP) Workshops in Italian, French & Spanish 

 

Each workshop consists of 15 hours of classroom meetings and three practice telephone conversations (one half hour each) for a total of 16.5 hours. The workshops are specifically geared towards teachers who are preparing to take the OPI.

The workshops are not for academic credit. However, participants will receive a certificate for 16.5 professional development hours.

Fee: $600

Minimum number of participants needed to run the workshop: 3
Maximum number of participants: 5

Registration will be handled on a first come first served basis
(Please note that spots will be reserved as payment is received.)

Cancellation Policy:
A prorated refund might be given if you need to cancel after the first workshop session. No refunds after the second session.

Meetings are held at the Language Institute, 20 Seminary Place, New Brunswick.

Instructional Technology: Windows Movie Maker

Date: Saturday, April 16, 2011
Time: 9:30-12:00 noon
Place: College Avenue Language Institute/Lab
Registered workshop participants will receive information on where to park.

Presenter:


Jonathan Baillehache
Teaching Assistant, Department of French. Jonathan is interested in developing existing multimedia technologies for SL teaching, including videos and video games.

Description:

This workshop will introduce world language teachers to the use of the very simple and free software Windows Movie Maker (WMM). Jonathan Baillehache will present how to use different features of WWM to edit movies, (uploading students' video files, mixing video shootings to create a film, editing subtitles) as well as to create voice-over dubbing parodies, a fun and creative activity where students recreate the sound track of an existing sequence of film. No former knowledge required.
